Aquatic fitness

Are you a keen swimmer looking to improve your endurance and stroke technique in a friendly group environment?

Aquarena's aquatic fitness programs cater for most swimming abilities from ages of 13 to older adults. Swimming is a great form of exercise as it provides a whole body workout without placing extra stress on your joints and it can help improve your cardiovascular fitness.

Swimming is an ideal form of exercise that avoids the orthopaedic stress and strain on muscles and joints that commonly occur with land based activities. Regular exercise in the aquatic environment is an ideal way to enjoy the benefits of a training workout program that will enable you to stay fit, healthy and well.

Swimming regularly can effectively assist in the following:

  • Increased relaxation and well being
  • Increased energy and fat loss

Year Round Facilities

Heated outdoor 8 lane 50-metre pool surrounded by acres of landscaped lawn, with convenient access to shower and change facilities. Indoor 25 metre 8 lane heated pool close to change room.
Relaxing indoor spa and steam room.

Swim Fit

Swim Fit is an open squad for people aged thirteen years to seventeen years who are competent with their swimming and would like extra guidance and technique in a friendly environment. The squad will run for one hour in the outdoor 50 metre pool and it is expected that you are able to swim one kilometre. 

Swim Fit classes run through school terms only (i.e. no classes are held over the school holiday periods).

Adult Technique Development

Adult technique development is a weekly session aimed specificly at improving stroke technique and efficiency in a friendly environment. This session is for members 18 years and over and will benefit those participating in both Aquarena programs and lap swimming programs. Coaches will utilise some of the latest technology for feedback and also monthly testing to help indicate progression.

Sessions are held on Saturday mornings 9:00am-10:00am


This is an adult squad specifically designed for the competent swimmer. It is recommended that participants have the ability to swim one (1) kilometre using 2 strokes. Aquanauts sessions utilise qualified and experienced coaches to offer training programs, stroke development and correction. The feedback given will help improve your training sessions within a friendly group environment.

This adult squad is designed for the athlete whose focus is fitness for Open Water Swimming and Triathlon events. Distance and endurance are the focus for these squads sessions and incorporate good feedback on technique and racing skills. Our experienced qualified coach structures solid training sessions which will enhance your skills in a friendly environment with people who share similar goals.

Lap swimming program

Due to the high demands placed on water space, the Lap Swimming Program is designed to guarantee times when lanes are dedicated to lap swimmers. The minimum 3 lane allocation (slow, medium, fast) ensures that lap swimmers get the space required to enjoy improving their fitness levels with minimal interruption.
