Group exercise

Our popular group exercise timetable features a wide variety of classes to suit everybodys needs and fitness levels. 

Motivating and inspiring instructors, energetic music and the fun and support of a group atmosphere makes training easy. At Aquarena members are enjoying getting in shape together and having fun in the process.

With a huge range of classes available at all times of the day there's definitely a class to suit everyone.

Participants can choose from an extensive timetable of cutting edge classes designed to deliver results and enhance our member's hearts minds and bodies. Low impact flooring combined with outstanding facilities and innovative programming means your choices can be as diverse as a relaxing yoga session through to an energetic Body Step or Body Pump class.

With over 60 classes per week you can choose from either low or high impact sessions or classes that maximise fat loss or muscle tone. In fact there are classes by the dozens working all parts of the body and covering a wide range of exercise disciplines from group cycling to the energetic Body Jam.

Class Descriptions

For more information on group exercise classes please see a brief of many class descriptions below. Please note that not all classes listed below may be running on our timetable on the one time. For even more detail on our range of Les Mills classes please choose from any of the links directly below:

BodyPump

A non-impact weight training class using easy to adjust barbells. It is ideal for beginners to advanced participants who are interested in muscle strengthening and conditioning. BodyPump Express is a 25 minute class instead of the standard 55 minute class.

BodyCombat

Les Mills Bodycombat is a fiercely energetic program that is inspired by martial arts and draws from a wide array of disciplines such as karate, boxing taekwondo, tai chi and Muay Thai. Supported by driving music and powerful instructors, strike, punch and kick your way to superior cardio fitness.

Boxing Circuit

An exciting, high intensity action packed class. The class consists of pad work, skipping, shadow boxing and othre cardio and resistance exercises. Boxing circuit is suitable for all fitness levels from Beginners to Advanced. Patrons are advised to bring their own gloves or inserts, however some gloves are provided.

Body Step 

Pre-choreographed step class from Les Mills that is simple, athletic and motivating. This class involves stepping up and down on a platform incorporating upper and lower body moves. A class for beginners to advanced.

Body Attack

This class is a pre-choreographed high intensity interval workout with simple athletic moves and strength work. A challenging and inspiring class. Body Attack is suitable for all levels, however beginners would be advised to lower the intensity level and impact in the class.

HIIT 30 minute class

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is a total body, heart pumping, aerobic and strength conditioning workout. This interval-based class combines full-body strength training with high intensity cardio bursts designed to tone your body and improve your endurance. Each week will be something different from Tabata, Metafit, to Circuit style training. Not for the faint hearted, although modifications for all fitness levels are provided. This 30 minute class gets you working hard from start to finish.

Core Conditioning 25 minute class

Core conditioning is the act of strengthening the muscles of the abs and torso. This type of workout tones and conditions the abs, improves lower back pain and can help the body to move properly both in exercise and everyday movement. Core conditioning goes far beyond sit-ups and crunches, instead it engages the muscles of the abs, both in the front and along the side of the body.

Please note: This class is not recommended for pregnant women. Please seek the advice of your health care practitioner prior to commencement.

Precision Cycling

This is an indoor group cycling class held to music. A safe and effective class that is designed for all fitness levels and ages. Classes run for approx 55 minutes with the exception of 6.15am classes that run for 45 minutes. Towels and drink are compulsory. It is also advised that patrons arrive a few minutes earlier to allow time for setting up of bikes.

Express Cycle  25 minute class

Beg-Adv
This is an indoor group cycling class held to music that runs for 25 minutes. Being an express class it is a great way to introduce yourself to the cycling program here at Aquarena or to get a maximum workout in minimum time. Towels and drink are compulsory. It is also advised that patrons arrive a few minutes earlier to allow time for setting up of bikes.

Yoga

Beg- Adv
A 75 minute class using the practice of yoga postures. Excellent for developing strength, flexibility and correct postural alignment. It encourages relaxation for the mind and body. (Tuesday 6:30pm class is 55 minutes)

Body Balance

A pre choreographed class taught to music that incorporates principles of yoga, Pilates and tai chi. The class will loosen and strengthen your muscles, Improve posture, flexibility and helps to relieve stress and tension. A must during the week!

Pilates

A class that focuses on strengthening the body's core (torso) to stabilise the back and body. Improve posture, flexibility and great for injury prevention. Classes run for 55 minutes with the exception of Monday and Wednesday 12.05pm and Wednesday 8.30pm that run for 75 minutes.

Power Pilates

Power Pilates is a great minimal impact workout that can help you get fit, improve flexibility, improve muscle strength and tone and your overall wellbeing.   Participants learn how to strengthen their bodies and core torso muscles in particular, to prevent injuries of the back and hip. The exercises require fewer repetitions but concentrate on highly precise movements, proper control and form.

It is a more progressive class than a regular mat-work Pilate's class, as it incorporates advanced exercises for the experienced individual who already has a good strength background.  Participants can expect standing Pilates work, balance exercises and traditional floor-work with this style of class.

Zumba

(Beg-Adv) Hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves create a fun, and unique dance class. The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms are combined to get your body moving while maximising fat burning.

 

Body Blast

(Beginner- Advanced) This is a freestyle class in which you will push your body each week with a variety of different exercises. The class may use steps, boxing equipment, interval training or weights to challenge you to become fitter and stronger. The weekly variation in training style will enable you to push your body to achieve your personal best. It can be adapted to all fitness levels so come and try it out.

Circuit 45 minute class

(Beg-Adv) This 45 minute machinery based circuit class is designed to give you a full body workout experience. Exercises will be predominantly using the machines and there will be additional exercises with weights, bands, balls and floor work. This class is perfect for beginners but also suits more experienced participants who want a guided weights workout. Class is held in circuit room)

All Abilities 
 

(Beg) This class is designed to provide opportunities for young people living with disabilities to access physical exercise sessions. A qualified Fitness instructor facilitates a wide variety of sports and activities, ensuring that they are tailored to suit a variety of abilities and therefore every participant, regardless of their abilities is able to engage and participate.

Parents, carers and helpers are required to provide support and assistance to people with severe or multiple limitations. People assisting the class are provided free entry.

Tai Chi 
 
(Beg- Adv) If you are looking for a way to reduce stress, consider tai chi which is a graceful form of exercise that's now used for stress reduction and a variety of other health conditions. Often described as meditation in motion, tai chi promotes serenity through gentle, flowing movements.

Water Aerobics class descriptions

Aqua Power

Achieve fitness for any level of participant (Beg to Adv) using a variety of techniques and equipment. Includes: bouyancy dumbells, deep water activities, strength and toning exercises.

Aquacise

Ideal for developing fitness, toning and strength. Suitable for beginner and intermediate levels

Pryme Aqua

This class is for any level of participant (Beg-Adv) to strengthen and tone your body. With the use of water this session is very beneficial to participants experiencing joint pain and loss of movement. With the buoyancy dumbbells and noodles participants can do deep water activities.

Pryme Movers Class Descriptions

All classes under the Pryme Movers banner are for participants aged 60 years and over. The classes are specifically designed in various levels to ensure older adults can achieve and improve their personal fitness goals at their own pace through low impact cardiovascular exercise, strength and stretching activities. Program Terms and Conditions

Please note that the minimum age for entry into all group exercise classes is 16 years of age. It is also advised that patrons do not enter a class once the first seven minutes has passed. A warm up is an essential part of an exercise class. Casual patrons (not members) must collect tickets no earlier than 10 minutes prior to the class starting.
