Membership policies

Pay by the month memberships

1. Age Limit

Minimum age limit 16 years (except Child Swim memberships).

2. Members ID card

Your membership card must be presented on each visit to the centre. If your membership includes use of the gymnasium you must carry your card at all times while using this area. All members must wear a wristband when using the spa and/or steam room.

3. Non transferable

Memberships are not transferable to other persons, products or services.

4. Refunds

All requests for refunds within the first 7 days of joining will be honoured in full, providing the facilities and services have not been used. If the membership has been used during these 7 days then the applicable costs will be deducted from the refund entitlement. All terms and conditions of membership are binding after 7 days.

5. Payment

The billing period is from the first day to the last day of each month. The debit day is the 1st of each month. If the 1st falls on a public holiday or weekend, your account will be charged on the next business day. (Charges to a credit card may appear on your statement as late as 4 weeks into that billing period). It is your responsibility to have clear funds in your account on the due date of the charge. Should your monthly charge be dishonoured, payment remains due and payable. All costs incurred by Aquarena will be forwarded to the account holder.

6. Changes to account details

It is the member's responsibility to ensure that the nominated account is able to accept direct debits. The member is responsible for notifying Aquarena in writing of any changes to account details. If the member is not the account holder, the member is responsible for fowarding all correspondence to the account holder.

7. Disputes

All disputes regarding a monthly membership payment should be referred to Aquarena Membership Administration by phone 9848 0000, email aquarena@ymca.org.au, or in writing to Aquarena Membership Administration, 139-153 Williamsons Road, Doncaster 3108.

8. Suspension

Notification of suspension must be received in writing at least 4 days before the debit day of the month in which the suspension is to occur. (The debit day is always the 1st day of each month). A start and end date of the suspension is required. The minimum suspension time is 14 consecutive days. Memberships may be suspended free of charge for holidays, work commitments, illness or injury etc for up to 8 weeks over a 12 month period. Once 8 weeks has accrued, any further suspension (including part of a month) will incur a fee of $10 per month. Maximum total suspension time is 6 months per 12 month period.

9. Cancellation

Notification of cancellation must be received in writing at least 4 days before the next debit day. (The debit day is always the 1st of each month). If notification is not received at least 4 days before the next debit day, the next monthly fee will be charged. No refund will be given.

10. Health screening

A health screening and evaluation by one of our qualified fitness instructors is compulsory for gold and gold day members.

11. Gold Day hours

Gold Day members can only use the centre during the following times: Monday to Friday 12.00-5.00pm (members must log in no later than 4.30pm and exit by 5.00pm) and anytime Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays.

Subject to ticket availability and entry rules, GOLD DAY memberships include access of off-site PRYME classes at any time. Standard GOLD DAY restrictions apply for all classes (including PRYME classes) held at Aquarena.

12. Upgrades or downgrades

A member may upgrade or downgrade a membership to another type. Notification of a change of membership type must by received in writing at least 4 days before the next debit day. If an aquatics member is changing to the gold or gold day membership, the difference in the administration fee remains payable if they have been a member for less than 3 months.

13. Lockers

Are available to members at no cost subject to availability

14. Price increases

One month's notice will be given in writing of any price increases. The new monthly charge will not be debited by Aquarena until one month's notice has been given.

15. Changes to conditions

The above terms and conditions may be changed at the discretion of management. One month's notice will be given in writing detailing any such changes.

Note: Due to swim carnival bookings, the outdoor 50 metre pool may be unavailable for periods of time during the warmer months. Prior notice will be given.

Notification in writing

Pay by the month alteration forms are available at reception. Letters, faxes or emails will be accepted. However it is the responsibility of the member to ensure that it has been received in accordance with the above terms and conditions.

 

 

Term memberships:


1. Fixed term

The centre offers fixed term memberships of 3, 6 or 12 months.

2. Age limits

People need to be at least 16 years of age to become a member (except for our child swim memberships). Please note that we have a separate GYMFIT program and we run a special teen aerobics class for children between the ages of 13-15. Please see reception for details.

3. Members' ID card

Our members are required to present their membership card at reception on each visit to the centre. If your membership includes use of the gymnasium, you need to carry your card whilst in this area. When using the spa and/or steamroom, all members are required to wear a wrist band. These are available from reception.

4. Refunds and cooling off period

All requests for refunds within the first 7 days of joining will be honoured in full, providing the facilities and services have not been used. If the membership has been used during the first 7 days then the applicable costs will be deducted from the refund entitlement.


After 7 days a refund will only be approved where:

a) a medical conditions precludes further participation AND a medical certificate is provided OR

b) a member relocates to an address outside the boundaries of the City of Manningham and proof of change of address is provided.


A refund will be calculated for the unused portion of the membership less a 20% administration fee.

Management reserves the right to cancel or rescind a membership at any time and if so will refund any unused portion less a 20% administration fee.Any request for membership reinstatement must be made in writing and forwarded for review by the Manningham YMCA Board. Correspondence should be addressed to the President of the Manningham YMCA Inc Board, PO Box 4160 Doncaster Heights.

5. Suspensions

Memberships may be suspended. You may wish to take advantage of this option for reasons such as holdays, study or work commitments, illness or injury. To suspend your membership, you need to give advance notice in writing. A form is available at reception.

The minimum suspension period that can be taken is 14 consecutive days.

The amount of free suspension available depends on the type of membership as follows:

3 month memberships: 14 days free suspension

6 month memberships: 28 days free suspension

12 month memberships: 56 days free suspension

Additional suspension time is available at a cost of $5 per 14 days (or part thereof). Extra suspension time is added after the payment of the appropriate suspension fee. The maximum total suspension time for each membership is 6 months.

Please note that suspension time does not accumulate when you renew your membership.

6. Upgrades or Downgrades

A member may upgrade or downgrade a membership to a different type. For example you can upgrade an aquatic membership to a gold day membership, or a gold day membership to a gold membership. A form is available at reception.

If you are upgrading your membership, a fee will be calculated and an instalment will be added to your membership, to be paid over the counter.

If you are downgrading, an administration fee is payable at the time of application. A form is available at reception. Additional time is calculated and added to your membership.

Changes to membership length (such as gold 3 months to gold 6 months) are only available during the 7 day cooling off period. After the 7 day cooling off period, the length of the membership is binding.

7. Changes to conditions

Members may use a locker each time they visit the centre. When you present your membership card at reception, ask for a locker key. Your card will be kept until the locker key is returned. Lockers are not available for overnight use or on a permanent basis.

8. 50 metre pool

The terms and conditions of memberships may be changed at the discretion of management. One month's written notice will be given detailing any such changes.

Due to swim carnival bookings, the outdoor 50 metre pool may be unavailable for periods of time during the warmer months. Prior notice will be given. (A flier detailing times of pool closure is available from reception).

9. GOLD DAY hours

Gold Day members can only use the centre during the following times; Monday to Friday 12.00 - 5.00pm (members must log in no later than 4.30pm and exit by 5.00pm) and anytime Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays.

General centre policies and procedures:

 

Health Club

  • Bags are not permitted in the health club

  • Please carry a personal towel for hygiene

  • Adhere to all usage time limits on equipment

  • Return all equipment after use

  • No children allowed in the health club at anytime

  • Dress standards apply

  • Membership card required at all times

 

Mobile phones and changeroom privacy

All mobile phones with in-built cameras pose a threat to the privacy of patrons in changerooms. For this reason, the Manningham YMCA wishes to advise that customers and visitors will no longer be able to use any mobile phones in changerooms. Royal Life Saving Society has recommended this action. We appreciate your cooperation on this matter
